The Wilderness Lodge is located in southwestern New Mexico, on the West Fork of the Gila River, in the small town of Gila Hot Springs. We're four miles south of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and forty miles north of Silver City.
Driving Times. We are:
- 5 hours from Albuquerque
- 6 hours from Santa Fe
- 4 hours from El Paso
- 2 and a half hours
from Las Cruces
- 4 and a half hours from Tucson
From Silver City take Highway 15 north to Gila Hot Springs. Turn right on Access Road (1/4 mile south of Doc Campbell's Post), then turn left on Jackass Lane. The Wilderness Lodge is the only house on the left.
From Albuquerque take I-25 south, exit onto highway 152 (Hillsboro exit) about 12 miles south of the town of Truth of Consequences. You'll be driving over the Black Range Mountains on a very twisty curvy road. Relax. Stop at the Emory Pass Vista and stretch your legs. Continue down the west slope of the Black Range, cross the Mimbres River, then turn right on highway 35 and drive up the Mimbres Valley. Cross the Continental Divide and drop into the Sapillo Creek drainage. Turn right at the intersection with highway 15. When you get to Gila Hot Springs, turn right on access Road (1/4 mile south of Doc Campbell's Post), then turn left on Jackass Lane. The Wilderness Lodge is the only house on the left. Driving time from Albuquerque should be from 5 to 6 hours.
From Tucson take I-10 East to Lordsburg. Take the Silver City exit and drive to Silver City. Go through town, turn north on Highway 15. Drive to Gila Hot Springs, turn right on Access Road (1/4 mile south of Doc Campbell's Post), then turn left on Jackass Lane. The Wilderness Lodge is the only house on the left.
